Funeral services for Charlie S. Smizer who passed away suddenly last Monday of a heart attack at the Akron hospital, were held last Thursday afternoon at the First Baptist Church. Rev. Michael Strom officiated. Stan Swanson, organist, accompanied Mrs. Hugh Swift who sang "In Times Like These" and "How Great Thou Art."

Casket Bearers were Elmo Fletcher, Floyd Fletcher, Darcy Fletcher, Ray Fletcher, Otto Minch, Raymond Hadfield.

Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery at Akron with the Schroeder Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Charlie Smizer was the son of the late Ben and Edna Smizer and was born March 23, 1903 near Akron, and passed away June 22, 1970. He was married to Leona Orton of Hawarden, Iowa on January 20, 1941 at Dakota City, Nebr. Three children were born to this union. He had always farmed in the Akron vicinity and the past few years was also engaged in trucking.

Besides his widow, he leaves 2 daughters, June at home, Mrs. (Linda) Steve McKee, one son, Larry, a granddaughter, Teri McKee and a brother, Percy, all of Akron. His parents and sister Mrs. (Viola) Kenneth Nygard preceded him in death. He was well known and liked by all and his passing will be missed by all who knew him.

Relatives and friends from out of town attended the funeral from Missouri, Pender, Nebr., Trent, So. Dak., Beresford, Vermillion, Elk Point, California, Primghar, Iowa, Gaza, Iowa, Hornick, Iowa, Hawarden, Burbank, and Ireton.
