Small, Doyle Alvin 1947 - 1970

Funeral services for Doyle Alvin Small, age 22, were held Saturday, June 27, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Akron. The Rev. Michael Strom officiating. Mr. Richard Smith, vocalist, sang "The Old Rugged Cross," and ''How Great Thou Art." Mr. Stan Swanson was organist. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery at Akron, under the direction of the Schroeder Funeral Home.

Casket bearers, all uncles, were Ivyl, Clinton, James, Eldon, Roscoe, and Gayland Small. Prayer service was held June 26. at 7 p.m. by Rev. Rude of Hawarden.

Doyle was born September 19, 1947 at Akron. He was baptized and was a member of the First Baptist Church. He graduated from Akron High School in 1965, and then attended Westmar College of Le Mars and the University of South Dakota. He married Candace Dose, August 2, 1968 in South Sioux City. He resided in the Akron territory all his life.

He is survived by his widow; his son Shane, 8 months old, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Small, two sisters, Mrs. Allan (Joceyle) Baker of Sioux City, and Valerie at home, and one brother, Barry at home. His paternal grandmother, Mrs. Grace Small and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Baldwin, all of Akron. Many relatives and a host of friends mourn his passing.
