George Sanny passed away at his farm home ten miles north of Remsen Monday evening at seven o’clock, with dropsy, at the age of seventy eight years. Mr. Sanny was taken ill several months ago, and although he was able to be up and about until the time of his death his advanced age made him unable to withstand the gradual decline, and he died peacefully Monday evening, with his wife and son, John, at his bedside. George Sanny was born in 1835, in Holstein, Germany. He spent the greater part of his life in the native land, and fifteen years ago, accompanied by his wife, he came to this country. They made their home for one year with their daughter, Mrs. Hans Srondt [Frondt], on a farm in Benton county, Iowa, and fourteen years ago they came to Remsen and lived in this vicinity, since then. Mr. and Mrs. Sanny resided for a number of years in their late home ten miles north of here. Besides the sorrowing wife, three children survive. They are John and Henry Sanny, of Remsen and Mrs. Dora Srondt [Frondt], who lives at Spirit Lake. Mrs. Sanny will make her future home with her children. The funeral was held this morning. After the usual services, conducted by Rev. Birkner at the residence, the body was brought to Remsen where services were held in St. Paul’s church and interment was made in the Remsen cemetery. A large number of friends followed the body of their dear neighbor to its last resting place, and they all sincerely sympathize with the bereaved family. Mr. Sanny was always a friendly, big-hearted man, and his death occasions profound regret among all who were acquainted with him. – Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, Sep. 2, 1913, page 2.
