Mrs. Katherine Sanny, one of the oldest of Remsen’s residents passed away last Thursday, February 10th, at nine o’clock a.m. at the age of seventy-nine years and twenty-seven days. Katherine Sanny, nee Kahlke, was born January 12, 1837, at Krempe, Holstein, Germany. In 1865 she was united tin marriage to George Sanny in the native home. She is survived by two sons, Henry and John Sanny, of Remsen and one daughter, Mrs. Dora Frondt, of Spirit Lake, Ia., Besides these there are eighteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The funeral was held last Saturday, with services in the home and in St. Paul’s church, conducted by Rev. E. Eilers. – Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, Feb. 22, 1916, page 4.
