John Witt Dies, Services Will be Friday in Remsen
John Jacob Witt, 78, died Tuesday, Nov. 25, at the Sacred Heart hospital after an illness of three years. He had been a patient at the hospital for the past 12 days.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 28, at 2 o’clock at St. Pauls Evangelical Lutheran church in Remsen. The Rev. Paul Wuebben will officiate at the services. Burial will be in the Remsen cemetery.
John Witt was born Sept. 11, 1879 in Benton county, Iowa. As a child, he moved to Remsen with his parents. In 1893 they moved to a farm near Remsen.
He was married Dec 22, 1909 to Rosa Hansen. They continued to farm until 1940 when they retired and moved to Le Mars.
Surviving besides his wife is a daughter Irma, a law student at the University of Iowa at Iowa City and one son, Glenn at Cherokee.
