MONA LUND

LEMARS, Iowa--Mona Lund, 83, of Michigan City, Ind., formerly of LeMars, died Monday, May 12, 2003, at the Life Care Center in Michigan City.

Memorial services will be 3:30 p.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church in LeMars. Burial of the cremains will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the memorial services Saturday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars.

MONA LUND

Mona Lund, 83, of Michigan City, Ind., and formerly of LeMars, died Monday, May 12, 2003, at the Life Care Center in Michigan City.

Mona Tullis was born Feb. 11, 1920, on a farm in Liberty Township, Plymouth County, the daughter of William and Gertrude (VanDyke) Tullis. She graduated from Liberty High School and attended Western Union (Westmar) College in LeMars. Following her education, Mona taught in rural schools in northern Iowa for 12 years. On June 14, 1950, Mona and Donald Lund were united in marriage in Sioux City. The couple owned and operated a farm in Fredonia Township (Plymouth County) from 1950 until their retirement in 1979. Donald died Sept. 25, 1989.

Mona had been an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church in LeMars. She served in a variety of capacities including teaching catechism and Sunday school and serving as church secretary. Mona was an accomplished seamstress and loved needlework.

Mona is lovingly remembered by her children, Rebecca Butler and her husband, Richard, of Michigan City, Ind., William Lund of Minneapolis, Minn.; four grandchildren, Richard Butler, Jr., Robert Butler, John Butler, and Christopher Butler; and four great-grandchildren, Aaron Butler, Johnathon Butler, Richard Butler, III, and AnaNicole Butler.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; and her seven brothers and sisters, Wilbur Tullis, Howard Tullis, Frank Tullis, Pearl Johnson, Hazel Johnson, Lloyd Tullis, and Lilla Mae Marine.

A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church in LeMars, with the Rev. Gary Landsness officiating. Burial of the cremated remains will take place at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Cemetery in LeMars. Visitation with the family will take place at the church one hour prior to the service. The Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home of LeMars is in charge of arrangements.
