From the Sioux Valley News, Canton, (Lincoln), South Dakota, Thursday, April 5, 1984, Page 2, Column 1:

Services for Lockey Beadle, 80, were held Tuesday, April 3, at the First Congregational church in Hudson. Mr. Beadle died March 31 at the Hawarden, Iowa, Hospital.

The Rev. Ronald Nuss-Warren officiated at the services. Pallbearers were Gerrit Havelaar, Gilbert Smith, Ward Miller, Robert Torkelson, Herbert Van Egdom and Curtis Vipond. Honorary pallbearers were Anthony Johnson, Bernard Fullenkamp, Ledru Boyer, Harley Boyer, Leslie Spies, Joe VandeMore, T. E. Quarnstrom, Oliver Sorlye, Bert Lundstrom, Charles Fowles and Alphonse Strubbe.

A Masonic service was held the evening of April 2 at the VanDeMore Funderal (sic--Funeral) Home.

Interment was at the Eden Cemetery.

Thomas Lockey Beadle was born July 23, 1903 to Mattie and William Beadle in Sioux County, Iowa, near Hudson. His education was received in the Gourley grade school in Iowa, the high school in Hudson and the college in Brookings.

He was married to Ruth Tullar on October 25, 1923 at Hudson. They resided on a farm in Sioux County, Iowa, near Hudson, for eight years. In 1931 the family moved to Hudson to make their home.

Mr. Beadle attended a Ford Trade School in Minneapolis and then was employed at the P. N. Roe Ford Agency in Hudson. He later opened his own garage and repair shop which he maintained for 30 years. He was also the operator of the Lincoln County grader and plowed snow for 20 years.

He was a member of the First Congregational Church, Heptha Lodge 121, and an honorary member of the Hudson Fire Department.

His wife Ruth died in 1970. He was also preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

He is survived by a daughter, Janice, Mrs. James Endsley, of Yankton; and three sons, Miles of San Diego, California, Earle, of Hudson, and Gene of Bruce, Mississippi; 12 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
