Death Claims E.P. Heizer

After having undergone an emergency operation early Wednesday morning, E.P. Heizer died at 10:50 o'clock Wednesday night at a Sioux City
hospital.

Mr. Heizer had been ailing for some days but had been up and around his farm home in Perry Township. At midnight Tuesday night he was taken with severe pains and at that time was taken to the hospital where he underwent the operation for obstruction of the bowles.

Edward Payton Heizer was born June 20, 1855, in Kossuth, Iowa. He was the son of James C. and
Margaret Blair Heizer.

Surviving are his widow; three children,
Richard Heizer, Mrs. S. W. Brock, and Mrs. George Perkins all of Perry Township; and a brother, Fredrick Heizer, of Sioux City.

For many years Mr. Heizer was associate editor of the Sioux City Journal and later served the city in the capacity of postmaster. He had a multitude of friends in this section of the country, having been identified with the life of Sioux City for 50 years.

Many Attend Funeral of Mr. Heizer

A large crowd of friends and neighbors from here attended the funeral services of Edward P.
Heizer, Friday at 1:30 p.m. in the First Prebytarian Church in Sioux City. Rev. Percy E.
Burtt officiated and burial was in Logan Park Cemetary. Pallbearers were Fred Davis, Henry Cody, and Ed Towns of Sioux City; and D. S. Twogood and Geo. Ellison of Hinton, and Norris Ernst of this vicinity. Mr. Heizer died last week Wednesday at 10:50 p.m. in a Sioux City hospital after an operation. He was 78 years of age. Mr. Heizer had a host of friends in this part of the state. He had resided in this township for many years. Surviviors are his widow, Jennie Steward Heizer; one son, Richard;
two daughters, Mrs. Margret Brock and Mrs. Beatrice Perkins of this vicinity; and a brother,
Fredrick Heizer, of Sioux City.
