Note: Her mother's maiden name was Nicolls.

A gloom was cast over this neighborhood Wednesday of last week when it was learned that Mrs. J. Vreugdenhil had passed away. She was a valued neighbor, who, with her cheerful, unselfish disposition, made friends of all who knew her. She will not only be greatly missed by her large family and other relatives, but by all who knew her. This whole community extends deepest sympathy to the so sadly bereaved family.

Mary Grace Jones was born near Danbury, Woodbury county, Iowa, on November 11, 1880, and died February 26, 1919, aged 38 years, 3 months and 15 days. When about two years of age, her parents moved to Smithland, Iowa, where she grew to young womanhood. On December 28, 1898, she was united in marriage with Jacob Vreugdenhil, of Hornick, Iowa, where they resided until the spring of 1915, when they moved to the farm where they now live in Union county, S. D.

To this union was born nine children, all of whom survive: Wm. C., Eva, Reuben, Marjorie, Cornelius, Edward, Lillian, Cora and Ruth, seven months of age. Besides her children and husband she leaves to mourn her departure her father, F. M. Jones, of Union county, S. D.; two brothers, M. W. Jones, of Hornick, Iowa; F. M. Jones, Jr., of Union county, S. D.; three sisters, Mrs. D. H. Hannahs, of Plainview, Nebr.; Mrs. R. E. Booth of Randolph, Nebr., and Miss Hilda Jones, of Union county, S. D.

Funeral services were conducted at the family home last Friday by Rev. L. M. Dorreen, of Sioux City. Interment was in Riverside cemetery.
