Vernon J. Killeas, 75, of Le Mars, died Wednesday, May 25, 1994, at Marian Health Center in Sioux City after a brief illness.

Mr Killeas was born Sept 25, 1918, in Sioux City, the son of John J. and Grace (Potter) Killeas. He grew up in Sioux City and attended elementary schools there. He moved with his parents to Le Mars where he attended Gehlen elementary school and graduated from Le Mars Central High School. After attending Iowa State University at Ames, he entered the U.S. Army Air Corp and served as a lieutenant in Alaska during World War Il.

On Aug. 27, 1946, he married Helen Schueller in Norfolk, Neb. After their marriage they lived in Laurel, Neb., for a few years and then moved to Pender, Neb. While living in Nebraska he ran a creamery in Laurel and was a co-owner and operator of the Farmers Creamery in Pender for many years The couple moved to Le Mars in 1973, where he worked for Killeas Investments.

He was a member of the V.F.W. in Pender, a lifetime member of the B.P.O.E., Le Mars, and a member of the American Legion, Wasmar Post #241 of Le Mars.

Survivors are his wife; three daughters, Andrea Peters and her husband, Roger, of Pender, Neb., (Mary) Jean Breitbarth and her I husband, Roger, of Lincoln, Neb., and Kristine Killeas of Vermillion, S.D; eight grandchildren and two great-grandsons, his parents, John "Jack" and Grace Killeas of Le Mars; two sisters, Patricia Koley and her husband, James, of Omaha, Neb., and Linda Slusser and her husband, Robert, of Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars with Msgr. Michael D. Sernett officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Military rites will be conducted at the gravesite by the American Legion Friends may call after 3 p.m. Friday, with a scriptural wake service at 7.30 p.m. at the Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars.
