Paul N. Kayser, 53, longtime LeMars resident, died unexpectedly Tuesday evening (Nov. 30, 1982) in the emergency room at Floyd Valley Hospital.

He was stricken at home and taken to the hospital by the LeMars ambulance.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. James Catholic Church in LeMars with Rev. George McFadden officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery under direction of the Luedtke Funeral Home. Military honors will be at the gravesite by Wasmer Post, American Legion.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Thursday. The rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

He was born Dec. 5, 1928, at Emory, S.D., to Nicolaus and Matilda Kramer Kayser. He graduated from Remsen St. Mary High School in 1947 and from mechanics school at Springfield, S.D.

A month ago he opened Paul’s Repair at Merrill. He previously had been employed at Gehlen Catholic Schools, Pew’s, Arnold Motor Supply and by Walker’s Ditching.

Mr. Kayser was a member of St. James Catholic Church and Catholic Order of Foresters. He was a member of Wasmer Post, American Legion.

His marriage to Norma Gengler took place May 20, 1953, at Remsen.

Survivors are his wife, Norma, LeMars; his children, Mrs. Jerry (Linda) Smith of Cherokee, Betty Kayser of Worthington Minn., Steven Kayser of Carroll, Joan Kayser of Storm Lake, David Kayser of Omaha, Janet Kayser of LeMars, Richard Kayser of Sioux City and Douglas Kayser of LeMars; brothers and sisters, James Kayser of Remsen, Mrs. Eileen Ortmann of Remsen, and Mrs. Sylvia Koopman of LeMars; and two grandchildren.
