Cleo Rose Lord, 97, died May 23, 2023 at Bishop Drumm Retirement Center in Johnston, IA.

Cleo was born at home on the family farm in Remsen, IA on August 20, 1925 to Frank and Theresa. She was the sixth of eight children. She worked as a civilian for the FBI in Washington, DC and for the Navy as a secretary in San Diego, CA, where she met Charles Lord. Charles and Cleo were married in 1946 and made their home in Des Moines, IA, where they raised their five children.
Cleo worked for Sears for over 20 years and was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, in Urbandale, IA where she was involved with the Altar and Rosary Society and helped with many funeral dinners.

Cleo is survived by daughter, Teri (Ron) Vanden Brink of Molt, MT and sons, Curt (Jamie) Lord of Haw River, NC, Mike (Carol) Lord of Micanopy, FL and Todd (Stephanie) Lord of Sturgeon Bay, WI; 11 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; a sister, Lorna Pick of Omaha, Nebraska and numerous nieces, nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles; her daughter and son-in-law, Kathy (Fred) Coffin and six siblings.

Cremation rites have been accorded and private interment will be at Iowa Veterans Cemetery.
