Mrs. William (Angie) Westergard, 89, of LeMars died Sunday (Nov. 29, 1987) at Plymouth Manor Care Center in LeMars after a brief illness.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. James Catholic Church in LeMars with Msgr. Michael Sernett officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Tuesday with the Rosary recited at 4 p.m. by the Altar Rosary Society and by the parish at 7:30 p.m. in Luedtke-Feuerstein Funeral Home.

Mrs. Westergard, the former Angie Gerdes, was born Aug. 20, 1898, near Akron, the daughter of Benjamin and Johanna Gerdes. She was raised in the Akron area and attended rural school. She married William J. Westergard in 1922 at Hawarden. The couple farmed for several years in the Hawarden area before moving to LeMars in 1930. Mr. Westergard died in 1977 and she had made her home at Plymouth Manor the last three years.

Mrs. Westergard was a member of St. James Catholic Church and the Altar Rosary Society of the church.

Survivors are a son and a daughter-in-law, Richard and Bonnie Westergard of LeMars, a daughter and son-in-law, Pearl and Darrell Scholer of Omaha, 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William J. in 1977, a son Daniel, a grandson David Scholer; four brothers, Richard, Walt, Ben and John; and a sister, Mrs. Anna Plueger.
