January 23, 1902Mrs. Wm. Ryan died at her home on Fourth and Cedar streets yesterday, aged eighty years. The deceased was a native of Ireland, maiden name being Ellen Gormley.
She was married twice, her second husband surviving her. She leaves four children, three of whom reside here. Will and Patrick Geary and Mrs. Jas. Mohan, and a daughter who resides in Sioux City.
Mrs. Ryan came to Iowa in 1848. The funeral will be held tomorrow morning at 10 o’clock at St. James Church.

The remains of Mrs. Wm. Ryan were laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery this morning after funeral services which were held at St. James church at ten o’clock.Mrs. Ryan was born in Ireland eighty years ago, her maiden name being Ellen Gormley. Her aged husband and four children survive her. They are Wm. and Patrick Geary and Mrs. Jas. Mohan and another daughter who lives in Sioux City. She was among the earliest settlers, having come to Iowa in 1848.

William Geary was called to LeMars on Wednesday on account of the death of his mother, Mrs. Ryan. Mrs. Ryan formerly resided here and her many friends here were grieved to hear of her death.

Her first marriage was to Dennis Geary. Mr. Geary died in Dubuque IA in 1861.
Four children were born to Dennis & Ellen Geary: Mary A. — Alice — Patrick Francis — William James.
