Mrs. Keliher Aged Resident Taken By Death
Pioneer Had Attained the Great Age of Ninety-Three Years.
Was Born in Ireland
Came to America Over Eighty Years Ago.

Death claimed Mrs. Mary Keliher, pioneer of Plymouth county and one of the oldest residents in this vicinity, at her home, 19 Fourth Avenue S.W., Monday, July 2. She had attained the great age of 93 years. Mrs. Keliher had been confined to her home for the past eleven months by the infirmities of old age.

Her maiden name was Mary McGillicudy, and she was born in Dingle County Kerry, Ireland, September 15, 1840. When a child of six years she came with her parents to Canada, and in 1872, the family settled in Michigan.

She was united in marriage January 9, 1866, a Kenilworth, Ontario, with James Keliher. Following their marriage they farmed in Michigan until 1887, when they came to LeMars and engaged in farming in Washington township. In 1895 the family bought a farm in Elgin township, where they farmed successfully for many years. Leaving the farm in 1918, they came to LeMars to live and made their home here since.

Mrs. Keliher leaves two daughters and a son, Mary Margaret and James Keliher, all living at home; and an adopted daughter, Mrs. Peter Bell; seven grandchildren and one great grand child.

Mr. Keliher died in LeMars, March 28, 1896, and two brothers and a sister preceded her in death.

FUNERAL THIS MORNING.
The funeral will be held at 9 o’clock Tuesday, July 3, in St. James church, Rev. Father L. J. Cooper officiating, and interment made in the St. Joseph cemetery.

Mrs. Mary Keliher was bright and cheerful until the end. A devoted home lover, wife and mother, she was one of the many women who in their Christian attitude and daily conduct made the world a better place in which to live.
