Obituary

Mrs. Bert L. Benton

Mrs. Bert L. Benton, 64, 3409 El Dorado Way, South Sioux City, until recently of 1624 W. 14th St., Sioux City, died Thursday (Feb. 1, 1973) at a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness.

Mrs. Benton had been a resident of Sioux City for 30 years, and moved to South Sioux City about a month ago to live with her son, Francis D. Groetken.

The former Rosezella E. Groetken, she was born June 18, 1908, at Le Mars. She was married to Bert L. Benton Oct. 1, 1953, in Sioux City. Mr. Benton died Aug. 29, 1965, in Sioux City.

Survivors in addition to her son include her mother, Mrs. Amelia Groetken of Long Beach, Calif., Thomas Groetken of Wichita, Kan., and Cecil Groetken of Sioux City; four sisters, Mrs. Henrietta Boden and Mrs. Arelene Fryan, both of Long Beach, Mrs. Florence Mastene of Portland, Ore., In Mrs. Leota Peterson of Sioux City, and one grandson.

Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sioux City, with Rev. Ronald G. Gotschen officiating.

Burial was in Calvary cemetery in Le Mars, under direction of the Manning – O’Toole funeral home.

Pallbearers, all nephews, were Joel, Thomas and Michael Lillie, Richard, Peter and Robert Groetken.
