Lyndel Joy “Dee Dee” Lehrman, 62, of Seney, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at her home following a lengthy illness. Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 8, 2023, at the Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. Rev. Timothy Geitz of Grace Lutheran Church in Le Mars will officiate. Burial will follow at the Seney Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
Lyndel Joy Lehrman was born on February 22, 1961, in Orange City, Iowa, the daughter of Loren and Loretta (Cook) Lehrman. She was Baptized on March 16, 1961, and Confirmed on May 18, 1975, at Grace Lutheran Church in Le Mars. Dee Dee was raised in the Le Mars area, graduating from Le Mars Community High School in 1979. Following graduation, she enlisted in the United States Air Force. She served with the military police state side as well as overseas in Germany. She returned to the area and worked at a meat packing plant in Sioux City, Iowa. Her next occupation was as a screen printer with K-Products in Orange City. Her final job was in the grain silo construction industry. An accident on the job forced her to retire early.
Dee Dee enjoyed screen printing as a career and a hobby. She collected numerous American Indian artifacts including artwork, ceramics and historical pieces. Dee Dee was also very artistic in painting and creating sculptures.
She will be lovingly remembered by her mother, Loretta Walsh of Seney, IA; a brother and his wife, LeMount and Angela Lehrman of Algonquin, IL; a niece, Olivia Lehrman of Alhambra, CA; and an uncle, George Cook of Murietta, CA.
She was preceded in death by her father, Loren; grandparents, Gordon and Margaretta Cook; and a sister, Lila Jean Lehrman.
