Glenda G. Wiener, 80, of Le Mars, Iowa passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Mercy One in Sioux City, Iowa. Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Le Mars. Rev. Christian Meier will officiate. Masks and social distancing will be required. Burial will follow at Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 26, 2021 at the Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. The family will be present from 5-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to the funeral service on Saturday.

Glenda Gayle Wiener was born on July 8, 1940 at the home of Emma (Ludwig) Casper in Hinton, Iowa to Albert and Elda (Ludwig) Wiener. She was Baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Hinton on August 4, 1940 and Confirmed at St. John’s American Lutheran Church in Le Mars, Iowa on June 6, 1954. Glenda attended country school through 6th grade and finished at Merrill High School, graduating in 1958. She continued her education by attending Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa for one year.

Following her education, Glenda took a position with Tentinger Insurance in Le Mars. She moved to Le Mars in 1979. Glenda remained at Tentinger Insurance until 1999. After this, Glenda worked at various nursing homes in the area.

An active and faithful member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Glenda taught Sunday School for over 50 years and participated in Bethlehem Revisited. She was a devoted member of the Deborah Circle. She was currently serving as the chairperson of WELCA as well as serving on Altar Guild, the Property Committee and she participated in Do-Day. Outside of church, Glenda was a past member of the Brentwood Auxiliary, Eagles Auxiliary and was presently serving as the vice-president of the Floyd Valley Healthcare Auxiliary. She also helped coordinate all school class reunions for Merrill High School.

Glenda loved to watch basketball and was an avid follower of the Hinton Blackhawks team. She enjoyed bowling and belonged to the Le Mars Bowling Association. She could also be found playing cards and Bingo and took regular trips to the casino.

Grateful to have shared her life are her siblings, Darrell (Janet), LaVonne, Mike and Arlene all of Le Mars, IA, Lee of Kingsley, IA, Arnold (Kelly) of Nemaha, IA, Marylyn (Don) Muecke of Hinton, IA, Elaine (James) Droegmiller of Cushing, IA and Pat (James) Verrips of Sheldon, IA; a sister-in-law, Doris Wiener of Ames, IA; an aunt, Gail Wiener of Le Mars, IA; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents; infant brothers, James and Carmen; and brothers, Ernie, Randy and Tom.
