DEATH OF OLD RESIDENT
Mrs. Closer Succumbs at Advanced Age to IllnessMrs. Chris Closer died at her home at the corner of Main and Broadway on Monday evening at seven o'clock. Her death was due chiefly to the infirmities of age, she being eighty years of age. She was a long time resident of Plymouth county, living in Lincoln township for many year.
Her maiden name was Annie Derst and she was born in Linthal, Canton Elarus, Switzerland, on January 25, 1833, where she grew to womanhood. She was united in marriage with Jacob Vogeli, a widower with three sons. One child, a girl was born to them, who died in infancy. Mr. Vogeli died in 1874.
Mrs. Vogeli came to America in 1876 and the same year on December 25 was united in marriage with Chris Closer, who survives her. They lived on a farm in the south part of the county for many years. In 1902 they moved to LeMars which was their home since.
The deceased was a member of St. John's Evangelical church and the funeral was held from that church yesterday afternoon, Rev. M. J. Dommann officiating. She is survived by her husband and seven children who with many friends mourn the death of a good Christian woman who had well filled her part in life.
