Funeral of Mrs. Delahunt
The remains ot Mrs. Julia Delahunt were laid to rest this morning after services held at the St. James church at ten o'clook. Regardless of the cold weather many friends were present to do honor to her memory. Mrs. Delahunt was the widow of John Delahunt who died about five years ago. Her four children Charles and Matthew of Le Mars and Mrs. Ed Burke and Mrs. Michael Burke of Perry, O. T. survive her.
Both the daughters were in constant attendance on their mother during her last illness, but about a week ago Mrs. Ed Burke returned to her home believing the invalid to be much better.
Mrs. Delahunt was born in County Loath, Ireland, 73 years ago, her maiden name being Julia Healy. She came to this country as a young girl and was married in 1852 to John Delahunt. They lived in Ohio for several years, going from there to Sioux City. In '69 they came to Plymouth county. Mr. Delahunt built several miles of the first railroad that came through Le Mars and later purchased a farm and engaged in the stock business on a large scale.
Mrs. Delahunt was among the most respected of the pioneer settlers and her death is much regretted by her old friends.
