DEATH CLAIMS EARLY SETTLER

SAMUEL VANBUSKIRK WAS WELL KNOWN RESIDENT OF KINGSLEY FORTY YEARS

Samuel VanBuskirk. son of Samuel and Lavina VanBuskirk, was born on the Cumberland River, Pa., June 6, 1856. When a small boy, he came with his parents to Clarence, Iowa, where he grew to manhood. He was married to Ellen MacMurray at Janesville, Iowa, November 5, 1884, and settled at Schaller, Iowa. In the spring of 1887 he moved to Kingsley, Iowa, where he passed quietly away, September 10, 1928.

To this union were born five children: Roy VanBuskirk, of Pierson, Mrs. Nessie Tollefson, of Elkpoint, S. D., Harry, L. VanBuskirk, of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Luella, Olson and Howard VanBuskirk, of Kingsley, who with their mother survive him. He also leaves seventeen grandchildren, one sister and four brothers.

He was a kind and loving husband and father, a man of the pioneer type, sturdy, generous and hospitable. The beautiful floral offerings and the large funeral attendance attested his standing among his fellowman.
