J. J. Moore Rites Thursday
Funeral Services Were Held Thursday Afternoon

J. J. Moore, a well known citizen of this community, passed away Tuesday at his hoe her following a sickness of several months. Mr. Moore was 81 years of age, and had been active in Le Mars until a recent operation forced him to retire.

Mr. Moore was born in Kanesville, Ill,, in 1858. In 1876 he came to Kingsley and later to Le Mars in 1892. Mr. Moore had built nearly 200 houses in Le Mars and had served on the local fire department for 45 years. Mr. Moore was married in 1880.

Surviving are his widow, Lucy; a son, Allen of Fairmont, Minn.; a daughter, Mrs. F. A. Locke, of Spearfish, S. D.; a brother Walter, of White Lake, S. D.; and a sister, Mrs. Clara Davis, of Danville, Ill. There are also 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at two o’clock Thursday afternoon from Mauer’s funeral home with Rev. F. P. Pfaltzgraff officiating. Interment was made in the City cemetery.

The loss of Mr. Moore will be keenly felt in this community where he was widely known by many friends and acquaintances.
