Shirley A. Hansen, 83 of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2022 at Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen, Iowa.
Memorial Service will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home of Le Mars. Burial will follow at Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars.
Shirley Hansen was born in Harrison County, Iowa on October 1, 1939 to Ralph and Bertha (Shearer) Flint. She was the third of six children and grew up in the Little Sioux area. She married Cliff Hansen Sr, they lived in Le Mars, and later divorced.
Shirley moved to Dallas, Texas in 1989 and then back to Le Mars in 2005. She worked in the restaurant industry most of her life.
Shirley was an avid bowler and became a certified bowling instructor. In addition, she coached her son’s baseball team. Shirley also was gifted with an artistic ability through drawings, paintings and poems.
Shirley is survived by her four children: Susan Hansen, Shari (Mark) Frerichs, Cliff (Jacquie) Hansen all of Le Mars and Russ (Kim) Hansen of Dallas, Texas; 14 grandchildren: Chris (Stephanie) Hansen, Jared Hansen, Stephanie (Keith) Campbell, Dustin (Amie) Arens, Matthew (Carie) Arens, Laura (Chris) Hemlrichs, Kari L. Frerichs, Chris (Andrea) Frerichs, Justin (Kari R.) Frerichs, Nick Frerichs, Travis (Serena) Hansen, Megan Hansen, Kameren (Kayleigh) Hansen, and Conner Hansen; 31 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; sisters: Betty Collett and Debbie Carrier, both of Onawa; several nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents; siblings: Rex (Anna Marie) Flint Sr, Corrine (Bill) Harris, Colleen Myer; brother-in-law, Richard Collett Sr; nieces and nephews: Richard Collett Jr, Beth Fegenbush, Nancy Jo Smith, Robin Flint, and Darrell Lawrenson.
