Alan Den Ouden, 66, of Akron, Iowa, passed away Thursday, June 23, 2022, at Unity Point Health – St. Luke’s in Sioux City.

Funeral service will be 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Pastor Suzi Larson from the Seney United Methodist Church in Seney, Iowa will officiate. Burial will be at a later date at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, rural Merrill, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at the Rexwinkel Funeral Home. Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars.

Alan Dale Den Ouden, the son of Cornelius “Casey” and Jane (DeVos) Den Ouden was born on June 24, 1955, in Sioux Center, Iowa. He grew up in Seney, Iowa and attended school in Le Mars. He graduated from Le Mars Central High School. Following high school, he went to work as a welder for Digs-All in Merrill and later for Fabricators Inc in Sioux City.

He was united in marriage to Deborah Kroksh on September 25, 1977, at the Adaville United Methodist Church, rural Merrill, Iowa.

Alan continued working for Fabricators before going to work for Nurta-Flo in Sioux City. He worked for them for over 41 years, most of that time serving as Plant Manager. In 2016, he returned to Fabricators as a welder.

He was a former member of the Seney United Methodist Church and was currently a member of the Adaville United Methodist Church. Being outdoors was one of Alan’s many joys. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping, especially at Leech Lake in Minnesota. He enjoyed attending the Plymouth County Fair. He was very mechanical and could fix just about anything. He could often be found taking drives. He enjoyed driving semi in the fall during harvest. His family was his greatest joy, whether it was an outdoor barbeque or attending a “Seney Sunday” at his mother’s home.

Survivors include his wife, Deborah Den Ouden of Akron, IA; 3 children: Brent (Ashley) Den Ouden of Maurice, IA, Lindsey Den Ouden of Akron, IA, and Tanner Den Ouden of Akron, IA; 11 grandchildren: Zoie, Levi, Taya, Addison, Braelynn, Ivie, Kiana, Tre, Kylee, Chance, and Brynlee; his mother, Jane Den Ouden of Seney, IA; his siblings: Sharon (Gene) Olson of Seney, IA, Bruce (Jean) Den Ouden of Le Mars, IA, Deb (Terry) Olson of Seney, IA, Patti (Denny) Harms of Le Mars, IA, and Brenda (Bruce) Erickson of Seney, IA; his father in law, Marvin Kroksh of Akron, IA; his in laws: Keith (Connie) Kroksh, Karen Gengler, and Randy Kroksh; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Casey Den Ouden; his daughter, Tamara Den Ouden Miller; his mother in law, Carol Kroksh; 3 nephews: Michael Gengler, Brandon Erickson, and Luke Kroksh; a niece, Brittany Kroksh; and his faithful companion, “Max”.
