Funeral Services Held Tuesday For Mrs. J. Ter Haar

Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Central reformed Church for Mrs. John Ter Haar, 74, who passed away Saturday, June 25, at the Sioux Center community hospital. The Rev. Albert Ten Clay officiated. Burial was made in the Akron Cemetery under the direction of Vander Ploeg's Funeral Home.

Mrs. Ter Haar, nee Carrie Jensen (or Janssen), was born February 17, 1892, in the Netherlands.

She was united in marriage to Simon Vander Helm in 1915 at Hawarden, and to this union eight children were born, seven of whom survive. They are George of Mora, Minn., Allen of Akron, John of Hawarden, Sam of Grasston, Minn., Henry oŁ Hawarden, Basil of Sioux Center, and Marie (Mrs. Henry Obbink) of Hawarden. One infant son preceded her in death.

Mr. Vander Helm died in 1931 and on September 27, 1944, she was married to John Ter Haar at Hawarden, who survives with the four step-children, Johnanna (Mrs. Harold Meendering) of Grand Rapids, Mich., Gertrude (Mrs. John Zommermaan) of Holland, Mich., Wesslena (Mrs. Claude Smytalle) of California, Bertha (Mrs. Clarence Sjaarda) of Paullina and Christiana. Three step sons preceded her in death.

She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 22 step grandchildren and 4 step great grandchild as well as a number of brothers and sisters in the Netherlands.
