Betty Valene Rogers was born on January 8, 1932 in Paris, Idaho to Benjaman and Ella (Jarvis) Rogers as the oldest in a loving family.
Valene was united in marriage to Waldemar "Wally' William Krause on January 26, 1951. They lived in Washington while Wally was employed with Boeing Aircraft and General Electric in Seattle, WA. There, she became actively involved at St Luke's Lutheran Church, Federal Way, WA, and with her deep abiding faith loved to serve by making coffee each Sunday and making supper for the children’s midweek program every week. Valene was well loved there and made lifetime friends. When Wally retired, they moved to Akron, IA in 1996. They were members of Big Springs Baptist Church in rural South Dakota. Valene was a seamstress, sewing her children’s clothing, doll clothes, quilting and much more. Her sour cream raisin pie was a favorite, as were gourmet meals while camping with friends. She loved music from a long line of music lovers and made sure she passed that on to her children. The light of her life were her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, bragging about all their accomplishments.
Valene is survived by her children: Michael (Alice) Krause of Seattle, WA, Cynthia (Daniel) Appley of Akron, IA, Lori (Jon) Summers of Kent, WA, and Wendy Krause of Federal Way, WA; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; sister-in-law Annie Rogers; sister-in law Colleen Rogers; sister Nellie (Roland) Lee; sister Trish (Robert) Eves; sister Barbara Aikins; brother Bill (Verona) Yessel; cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Valene is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wally Krause; brother Edwin Rogers; brother Jarvis Rogers; sister Koi Clark; and beloved aunts Ida (Lyle) Wood, Mae (Melvin) Gudmundson.
