Mrs. Patrick Mooney, one of the old and respected residents of Plymouth County, died at her home in this city on Sunday morning. Death was due to senility and failing powers. Since the death of a daughter last October for whom she grieved deeply Mrs. Mooney has never been the same and pined away. For several weeks she had been helpless and unconscious a large part of the time.

Mrs. Mooney was a native of Ireland. Her maiden name was Bridget Shea and she was born in King's County on February 2, 1845. On November 11, 1864, she was united in marriage with Patrick Mooney, the ceremony taking place at Dundee in Scotland.

In June 1866, Mr. and Mrs. Mooney left the old land and embarked for America, and on arriving in New York, came west, locating in southern Illinois. They lived near Cairo for three years and then moved to Cedar Rapids.

In 1871 they came to. Plymouth county and have made their, home here since. Mr. Mooney was for many years section foreman at Remsen for the Illinois Central railroad. He bought a farm a mile and a half from Oyens and there he and his wife labored and brought up their children.

Nine children were born to their union and the ensuing years brought the angel of death to their otherwise happy home many times as six of the children have preceded their mother to the beyond.

Three with the aged father are left to mourn their mother's death. They are Mrs. Sam Laddusaw, Mrs. Jos. Heissel and Will Mooney, all of this county.

Mr. and Mrs. Mooney retired from active farm life about three years ago, coming to Le Mars to spend their declining years in ease and quiet. Mrs. Mooney was a devoted wife and mother, a good friend and neighbor, and a faithful member of the church.

The funeral will lie held this morning at St. James church in this city at 10 o’clock.
