Dennis William Anderson was born January 1, 1954 in Le Mars, Iowa, the son of Lurraine “Andy” and Edna “Babe” (Trobaugh) Anderson. He attended school at Union Consolidated, rural Plymouth County, Iowa, and later high school in Remsen. He graduated from Remsen-Union High School.
He was united in marriage to Karen Harvey on June 15, 1974 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen. To this union, 3 children were born: Chris, Kyle, and Katie. They later separated but remained friends.
Denny worked for the Le Mars Hatchery before going to work at Russell’s Ready Mix in Le Mars for 14 years. After that he worked for the City of Le Mars Street Department for 28 years until his retirement. Over the years, he has helped many farmers including Hodgson Farms for over 30 years. He continued helping with farm work until recently.
He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and the Le Mars Eagle’s Club. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, dancing, music, and doing cement work. He also enjoyed planting his vegetable garden every year, especially his tomato plants. He loved the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. One of his favorite past times was “checking the crops.” He will be remembered for his many “one liners” and his quick wit and sense of humor.
Survivors include a son: Chris (Tracy) Anderson of Le Mars and their children, Logan and Karlee; a son: Kyle (Tanna) Anderson of Brandon, South Dakota and their children, Christian, Mathis, and Kendrick; a daughter: Katie (Aaron) Youngers of Le Mars and their children, Dalani, Laykin, Joelee, and Vienna; 4 sisters: Joyce Roeser, Diane Anderson, Donna (Dan) VanderWell, and Debbie (Paul) Kellerson, all of Le Mars; his aunt: Evelyn Stream of Le Mars; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
