Huls, Irene Mae 1926-1953

   Mrs. Conrad Huls departed this life last Saturday Morning, September 5, 1953, at her home in Akron, after an illness of several months.  She was 27 years, 3 months and 25 days of age.

     Irene Mae Onnen was born at Akron, Iowa, May 11, 1926.  During infancy she was baptized as a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church.

     She was joined in holy wedlock with Conrad Huls, August 18, 1944, to this union was born one son, James Leroy.

     During her entire life, she has resided in this community.  Whe she became a communicant member of the Immanuel Church following her confirmation she immediately became quite active in the various organizations and activities of her church until she was forced by illness to give them up.

     She was known widely for the cheerful and courageous spirit which was quickly evident to those who knew her.

     Those surviving her untimely departure include:  her husband and little son; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Onnen, of Elk Point; her sisters, Violet, Lenora and Nancy, all at home; her brothers, Cpl Alfred, of Camp Chitose, Japan; Pvt. Donald of Camp Carson, Colorado; A-2c Virgil, of Camp Victorville, California, and Clinton of the parental home; her grandfather, Charles Jans; many other relatives and a great number of friends.

     Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in Immanuel Lutheran Church, Mrs. Frances Mackey was soloist and Mrs. Fred Dirks was accompanist.  Pallbearers were Jackie Lee Hemmelrick, Elmer DeJager, Arvin Rosenbaum, John Dirks, Ivy Small and Harold Klave.  Interment was in Riverside Cemetery.
