ELAINE LENA ONNEN HULS
 
    Elaine Lena Huls, 64, of Akron, died Wednesday, October 9, 1991, in the Morningside Manor Nursing Home in Alcester, South Dakota, after a long illness.

     Services were held at 1:30 P.M. Saturday, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Akron.  The Reverend William Flemr officiated.  Burial was in Riverside Cemetery at Akron, under the direction of Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.  Visitation was held at the funeral home Friday.

     Soloist Carol Harris sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "The Old Rugged Cross" , organist was Phyllis Frisk.

     Pallbearers were Norman Huls, Merlyn Huls, Matt Onnen, Tim Bernhardt, Mike Bernhardt, and Joe Onnen.

     Elaine Huls was born November 24, 1927, at Akron, Iowa, the daughter of Richard and Ethel Jans Onnen.  She married Conrad Huls December 19, 1953, in Luverne, Minnesota.  She lived in Akron her entire life until moving to Morningside Manor in Alcester in March of 1986.

     She attended school in Akron, and worked at the Hi-Way Cafe in Akron and Kresge's Store in Sioux City for many years.  She also did babysitting and decorated cakes for many years.

     She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she taught Bible school and Sunday School.

     Survivors include her husband, Conrad of Hawarden; a son Jerry of Akron; two daughters, Mrs. Dwight (Jolene) Dirks of Sioux City and Mrs. Max (Jeanne) Noack of Ames, Iowa, a stepson, James and his wife Rhonda of Hawarden; 12 grandchildren; and a sister, Bessie Bernhardt of Akron.

     She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Chalmer and Jerome Onnen.
