     Christopher John Huls, 80, Matney Westside Manor, died Sunday, October 1, 1989, at a Sioux City hospital after a long illness.

     Services will be at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday in Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sioux City with the Reverend Ernest Caltvedt officiating.  Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at Akron, Iowa.  Visitation will be from 2-8 P.M. Tuesday with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. in Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.

     Mr. Huls was born April 28, 1909, in Akron, son of John and Meta (Onnen) Huls.  He married Evelyn Lawrence August 15, 1928, in Akron.  The couple farmed in the Akron/Westfield area until 1952 when they moved to Sioux City where he worked for Cudahy Pack, Sioux City Dressed Beef, Sioux Quality Packers and Armour & Co., retiring in 1974.  He also was a security guard for many years.  Mrs. Huls died January 6, 1983.

     Mr. Huls was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and Landmark Lodge 103 Af & AM of Sioux City.

     Survivors include three sons, Kenneth of Modesto, California; Eugene of Jefferson, South Dakota; and Robert of Spirit Lake, Iowa; two daughters, Mrs. Russell (Margaret) Davis of Sloan, Iowa, and Mrs. Richard (Jody) Farrington of Hardy, Kentucky; three brothers, William of Aberdeen, Idaho; Marvin of Moorhead, Minnesota; and Herman of South Sioux City, Iowa; three sisters, Mrs. Cluett (Lena) Chamberlain of Le Mars, Iowa; Mrs. Dale (Rena) Vanderkooi of Hinton, Iowa, and Mrs. Don (Pearl) Johnson of Rock Valley, Iowa; 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers, one sister, and one daughter.
