HOLD LAST RITES WEDNESDAY FOR WILLIAM KRAUSE

Death Comes To Akron Farmer Saturday After Long Illness

William Krause, who farmed northeast of town, passed away in the Akron Community Hospital, Saturday, March 15, 1952, at the age of 65 years, 5 months and 16 days. He had been in failing health since he suffered a stroke about six years ago.

William Krause, son of Christian Krause and Eva Semke, was born on September 20, 1886 at Annetta Walegne in the Ukraine, where he was baptized and confirmed in the Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Mr. Krause left his homeland and came to the United States in 1909. A short time was spent in Oklahoma after which he settled in Nebraska. He was a resident of Nebraska from 1909 to 1944.

On October 3, 1917, he answered the call of the colors and served in the United States Army. He served overseas in World War I from June 1918 to May 26, 1919. He was honorably discharged from the U. S. Army and returned to Nebraska.

Mr. Krause was united in holy wedlock to Emilie Ponsograu (Pansegrau), of Ponca, Nebraska, on February 8, 1922. Their union was blessed with 6 children, 5 sons and one daughter.

The family came to Iowa in 1944, settling on a farm south of Akron. Soon after their arrival, they became members of Trinity Lutheran church.

Left to mourn is the immediate family—his beloved wife and 5 sons: Waldemar, of Utah; Gerald, of Akron; Arnold, of Omaha, Nebr.; Ervin, of Ames; and Henry at home. One daughter, Althea, preceded the father in death. Also left to mourn is: One brother, Otto, of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

The bereaved family have the sympathy of their many friends.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon at Trinity Lutheran church, with the Rev. E. Beckmann in charge. Mabel Long, Esther Hitzeman and Mrs. George Hitzeman sang “Asleep In Jesus” and “Abide With Me” accompanied by Mrs. Pannkuk. Interment was in Riverside cemetery.
