Kathryn Wolbers Hughes, 96, of Le Mars, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 1991, at Floyd Valley Hospital.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Le Mars with the Rev. Dale George officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. A Christian Mother's Rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. and scriptural wake service will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Sunday.
Mrs. Hughes was born July 17, 1895, in Sioux County, the daughter of Henry and Mary (Till) Wolbers. She attended St. Mary's Academy in Alton. She worked as a beau operator for many, years in Sheldon, Spencer, and Mars. She later worked many years at the Gehlen School Cafeteria.
She married Clarence Hughes on May 21, 1928, at St. Mary's Church in Alton. He died April 1, 1976. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and Church Guild and the Christian Mother's Society.
She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Adeline Niehus, of Oyens.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, George and Carl Wolbers; and one sister, Mrs. John (Clara) Jonas.
