Paul's Obituary

Paul Edward Lloyd, 73, of Westfield, IA passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 15, 2006 at his home. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 18, 2007 from 3-8 p.m. with the family present from 6-8 p.m at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 19, 2007 at Smithland United Methodist Church with Pastor Karen Handke officiating. Burial will follow at Smithland Cemetery.

Paul was born May 6th 1933 at Mapleton, Iowa to Robert Wesley and Elsie May (Anderson) Lloyd. He was the 3rd born of five boys. His family farmed in Northern Iowa and he graduated from Inwood High School in 1951.

He married Donna Louise Carlson on November 22, 1952 in Sioux City. Paul served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. He worked various jobs over the years, sometimes working two jobs to support his family. He worked for the City of Sioux City from 1959 to 1966. He worked at Sears Tire Center part time from 1959 to 1970 and also worked at the Sioux City Stockyards from 1969-1970.

He rented his farm in Westfield, Iowa in 1967, then bought the farm and moved his family there in 1970. He farmed full time and also worked part time for AEA, drove mail trucks and retired as Engineer from the Sioux City Post Office having worked there from 1978 to 1990.

Paul will be best remembered for his love of life and family. He enjoyed telling jokes and stories and entertaining family and friends. He devoted his life to his family and was always there for anybody in need. He loved reading Westerns and watching Western movies. He was cherished by his children and grandchildren and will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Lloyd of Westfield, IA, a son Mike Lloyd and his wife Cindy of Westfield, IA, a son Pat Lloyd of Brookings, SD, and a daughter Melissa Frigge and her husband Rusty of Westfield, IA. 2 brothers, Gary Lloyd and wife Hilda of Arthur, IA, and Gaylen Lloyd of Sioux City; nine grandchildren, Travis, Eric, Erica & Kari Beth Lloyd; Amanda and Christina Lloyd; Adam, Danielle & Joseph Paul Frigge, and great-granddaughter, Summer and many nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Gertrude; his parents, 2 brothers Harold and Robert; his mother and father-in-law Frank and Bertha Carlson, a sister-in-law Shirley and her husband Dean Ruser and sisters-in-law June Lloyd, Lady Lloyd and Josie Lloyd.
