Death of William Utech.

William F. Utech died at his home in Elgin township on Wednesday afternoon after an illness lasting several weeks, of cirrhosis of the liver. The funeral will be held on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 at the German Methodist church, Rev. Gr. C Rheinfrank officiating.

William F. Utech was born in Prussia on November 27, 1838, and was united in marriage with Caroline P. Steffen in 1863. They came to America in 1868 and lived near Bloomington, Illinois for a period of nine years. In 1877 they came to Plymouth county and settled in Elgin township which has been their home ever since. Mrs. Utech died on July 9, 1905. Eleven children were born to them, five of whom are now living; Herman, August, William, Fred, and Christopher. He also leaves ten grandchildren. One sister survives him, Mrs. Jahn residing in Bloomington, Ill.

Mr. Utech was one of the pioneer settlers of Plymouth county and was widely known and highly respected by all. He was a splendid citizen, a good friend, and neighbor, a kind and affectionate husband and father. He affiliated with the German Methodist Church twenty-five years ago and was a faithful and consistent member.
