Wilbert Clement – Succumbs to Heart Attack – After Bowling A Strike – Last Night
Wilbert Clement, 51, well-known owner and operator of the Le Mars Oil Co. her died shortly before midnight last night after suffering a heart attack while bowling.
He had just rolled a strike in the ninth frame, when the complained of feeling ill and left the bowling alley to get some fresh air. When he did not return his wife went out to see how he was and became alarmed when she couldn’t rouse him in the car where he was sitting.
He was rushed to the hospital by Cleat Wiebersch but was dead on arrival at the hospital.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at St. John American Lutheran church. Rev. L.L. Belk will officiate. Burial will be in the city cemetery with military honors conducted at the graveside by Wasmer Post, American Legion.
Friends may call at the Wiltgen-Luedtke funeral home after 2 p.m. Thursday.
Mr. Clement was born on October 6, 1908, at Remsen. He came to Le Mars from Stanton township in 1939 and had owned and operated the Le Mars Oil Co. Champlin products dealership in recent years. He was a member of Wasmer's post here and the Sioux City Moose Lodge.
His marriage to Leona Gengler took place on November 25, 1931 at Hartford, South Dakota.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Donita at home; his mother, Mrs. Mary Clement of Le mars; two sisters, Mrs. Ralph Blankenburg of Hinton and Mrs. Werner Matgen of Le mars and one brother Eldon of Le Mars.
He was preceded in death by his father, Theodore Clement.
