Death Claims Henry Matgen

Death claimed Henry Matgen, 71, at his home 220 Fourth avenue SW, shortly after midnight Sunday. Mr. Matgen had been failing in health for some time but was up and around and death came unexpectedly.

Mr. Matgen was born in Luxemburg, Europe, and when a youth of twenty came to this vicinity where he lived since.

He was employed by the late Eugene Eilenbecker as a teamster for many years and later in the same capacity at the Plymouth Mills Following the disuse of horses in town, Mr. Matgen was a janitor at the First National bank until ill health prevented his working. Mr. Matgen was a good workman and citizen and was esteemed by many friends.

He is survived by his wife, Marie Umiker, to whom he was married on February 5, 1910, and his son, Werner Matgen, a brother and a sister living in Luxemburg also survive.

The funeral will be held at 1:30 Wednesday afternoon at the Mauer funeral chapel, Rev. R. R. Hunger, pastor of St. John's Evangelical church, officiating and interment made in the city cemetery.
