Fritz N. Reinholdt, 57, Kingsley Fire Chief, Dies Suddenly Following Heart Attack
Funeral services for Fritz N. Reinholdt, 57, Kingsley fire chief for the last eleven years, who died of a heart attack at his home Thursday, December 15 were held Monday at the Kingsley Methodist Church. Rev Everett R. Major officiated and burial w s made in the Kingsley cemetery under the direction of the Dickison Funeral Home. Masonic and Odd Fellow rites were conducted at the graveside
Special music was provided by soloist Mrs. Ben Pratt, singing "Beyond the Sunset " and "The Love of God." She was accompanied by Mrs. Raymond Hess at the organ. Pallbearers were all members of the Kingsley volunteer fire department; Bill Smid, assistant fire chief, Herb Dugan, Lynn Thomson, Joe Gollhofer, Gerald Kindig and Marion Beardsley.
Mrs. Elmer J. Pederson of Moville, Mrs. Harland Bainbridge, Mrs. Henry- Oleson and Mrs. Herman Treplow assisted with the flowers. Ushers were Hugh Moser, Russell McLarty and Harland Bainbridge.
The death of Mr. Reinholdt came as a shock to the community Although under the care of a doctor on occasion, he was not considered a sick man.
He had spent the day Thursday delivering hand bills for the annual Fireman's ball to be held in January. He died instantly when he was stricken while doing farm chores that evening
Obituary
Mr. Reinholdt was born May 31, 1902 at Remsen, Iowa, and attended public school there. He married Wilda Vining July 29, 1929, at LeMars, Iowa. He formerly was employed by telephone companies in Nebraska and in Remsen, Coon Rapids and Kingsley, having served as manager of the Kingsley telephone exchange for a time.He resigned as telephone company manager here to move to a farm outside of town in 1937. He also was a seed corn salesman.
Mr. Reinholdt joined the Kingsley volunteer fire department in 1932 and was named chief in 1948. While chief, he helped organize the Plymouth County Firemen's association and expanded the Kingsley department's coverage to the surrounding areas improving the equipment so extensively that the community received a reduction in fire insurance rates.
He was a member and past noble gran d of the 1.0 O F. lodge; was a member of Cosmos lodge No. 470, A F & A M. here, and belonged to the Kingsley Methodist Church. He once served a two-year term on the Kingsley town council
Survivors include the widow and two brothers, William of Yakima, Washington and Henry of Cherokee.
