About five o’clock Sunday morning occurred the death of Grandfather Wagner, at the ripe age of 78 years. Mr. Wagner has been in failing health for many months and the end was momentarily expected for some time. His ailment was general debility from old age. Michael Wagner was a native of Luxemburg, Europe, and as born May 5, 1822. In 1848 he was married to Anna Gober and in 1856 they emigrated to America, locating in Jackson county Iowa, where they reside until 1877 when they, with their family of ten children came to Plymouth county and engaged in farming. About three years ago Mr. and Mrs. Wagner celebrated their golden wedding in this city. The interment took place in Le Mars Tuesday at the St. Joseph’s cemetery, Rev. Father Baumlier, officiating. The remains were laid to rest along side of his wife and the children who preceded him to the great beyond. The surviving children are C. G. Wagner, Remsen; Chas. B. Wagner, Granville; Mrs. (John) Galles, Remsen; Mrs. Nic Hentges, Le Mars; Mrs. Ed. Bitchie (or Beechie), Oklahoma and Mrs. Herman Authe (or Anthe), of Johnsburg, Minn. Mrs. Wagner died about eight months ago. —Remsen Bell.
