Henrietta Roepke Early Resident Taken By Death
Widow Of Prominent Lincoln Township Farmer Dies After Long IllnessMrs. Henrietta Roepke, 75, of Kingsley, well-known pioneer resident of Lincoln township, died Friday in a hospital at Sioux City after an extended sickness.
Mrs. Roepke was the wife of the late, Carl Roepke, a prominent farmer, and stock raiser during his life in Plymouth county.
Her maiden name was Henrietta Manthei and she was born in Germany, September 3, 1862. She came to the United States when a girl of 18 with relatives who settled near Joliet, Illinois. She was married while living there with Carl Roepke. They came to Plymouth in the nineties and bought land in Lincoln township where they farmed successfully increasing their land holdings and acquiring a substantial home.
Mrs. Roepke leaves four sones, Frank and Louis of Sioux City, Henry of Hinton, Edward of Kingsley and a daughter, Miss Elsie Roepke of Kingsley, 13 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
The Funeral services ere held at Kingsley Sunday and interment ws made there.
