DEATH of MRS. ANNA DIRKS.
Mrs. Anna Dirks, 96 years, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Gerd Osterbuhr, LeMars, last Wednesday. Funeral services were held Monday at the Kleihauer home and from the church, with Rev. F. Bunge, officiating. Mauer Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Burial was in Grant township cemetery, beside her husband.

She was born March 12, 1848, Gribing, Ostfriesland, Germany. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ahrend Gerder Zimmerman. When six years old, she came with her parents to Mt. Oliver, Ill. From there they moved by covered wagon to Plymouth county and took up a homestead in Grant township.

She was married to John A. Dirks of Mt. Oliver, Ill. Eight children were born to this union. Her husband and three children preceded her in death.

The deceased lived for 65 years in Grant township and several years at Ireton. She was a charger member of Christ Lutheran Church, of which she was an active member until her death.

She is survived by five children: Mrs. Henry Pleuger, Mrs. Gerd Osterbuhr, Mrs. Hannah Kleihauer of Grant township, Mrs. William Plueger, and Albert Dirks of Los Angeles, Calif., 42 grandchildren, 81 great grandchildren. Four grandsons are in the Army, one of which, Rev. John Plueger, is Chaplain. She was an aunt of John Zimmerman of Ireton.
