Note: Her mother's maiden name is Hoskins.

Mrs. Ben Smizer, a resident of Akron vicinity for the past 58 years, passed away early Saturday morning, Sept. 19, 1959, at the home of her son, Charlie, southwest of town, aged 81 years, 6 months and 25 days. She had been in good health until about a month ago, and two week's ago she went to her son's home where she suffered a stroke that resulted in her death one week later.

Lora Edna Fletcher, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Fletcher, was born February 22, 1878, on a farm near Durham, Missouri, On Sept. 20, 1900, she was united in marriage with Ben Smizer and the following spring they moved to Iowa and located on farms in Plymouth and Sioux Counties. Three children were born to their union.

In 1918 Mr. and Mrs. Smizer moved onto farms in the Akron vicinity and lived there until 1942 when they moved into a home in Akron

Mrs. Smizer was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband in November 1944, also by an only daughter Viola in 1940, and by three sisters and four brothers.

Amember of the First Baptist church and the Ladies Association, she also belonged to the Embroidery Club.

Survivors include two sons, Percy and Charlie; four grandchilden; one brother Art Fletcher, of Custer, S. D. one sister, Pearl Mar Dille, of Fort Morgan, Colo., and several nieces and nephews.

Her many friends join in the mourning of her passing away.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in the First Baptist church, conducted by Rev.Paul Williams, of Hawarden. Mrs. Hugh Swift sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "Till We Meet Again". Acting as pallbarers were her nephews, Ray Fletcher, Floyd Fletcher, Darcy Fletcher, Elmo Fletcher, Raymond Hadfield and Otto Minch. Interment was in Riverside cemetery.

Relatives from a distance in attendance were: A. J. Fletcher of Custer, S.D.; Mr. and Mrs. Otto Minch and Raymond Hadfield, of Palmyra, Mo.
