Collision At Cross Roads Proves Fatal
Young Matron Killed and Others Injured

Mrs. Jos. Schierholt, 28, of Ashton, was killed and five others were cut and bruised in an automobile collision at a highway intersection, seven miles northwest of Rock Valley Friday.

The Schierholts were on their way to Marion, S.D., when their car collided with a machine driven by Jake Van Roeckel, of Doon. Among the injured were Ben Schierholt, of Remsen, a brother of Jos. Schierhot, driver of the car, Herman Holdgrafer, father of the woman killed, and a four year old son of Jake Van Roeckel. The injured were taken to the hospital at Hudson, S.D.

FINAL RITES HELD FOR CRASH VICTIM
Funeral services were held in St. Mary’s church at Remsen Thursday morning for Mrs. Jos. Schierholt, 30, of Ashton, Iowa, who was fatally injured at an intersection on the road south of Rock Valley Friday afternoon, when two automobiles collided.

Critically injured in the crash are Jos. Schierholt and Jake Van Roeckel. Ben Schierholt, a brother of Jos. Schierholt, and Herman Holdgrafer, father of Mrs. Schierholt were injured and a three year old son of Van Roeckel was badly cut.

Mrs. Schierholt, victim of the accident, leaves her husband and four small children.

RITES FOR CRASH VICTIM THURSDAY
Remsen, Ia.—Special: Funeral services will be held, Thursday morning for Mrs. Joe Shierholt, 30, of Ashton, Ia., who was fatally injured in the collision of two automobiles at an intersection south of Rock Valley, Ia., Friday afternoon. Critically injured in the crash were Joe Schierholt and Jake Van Roeckle. Ben Shierholt, brother of Joe, and Herman Holdgrafer, father of Mrs. Shierholt, were injured, and a 3-year-old son of Mr. Van Roeckle was badly cut. Surviving Mrs. Shierholt are her widower and four small children. Interment will be made in St. Mary’s cemetery at Remsen.
