Mrs. John Nelson, living southeast of Westfield and resident of western Plymouth county for nearly 30 years, died at her home after a long illness, Thursday afternoon, December 12, 1946, at the age of 74 years.

Ida Carlson was born in Limared, Westergotland, Sweden, August 22, 1872. She came to this country at the age of twenty-two. Shortly after her arrival she met and married John Nelson, at middle, Connecticut. Their early married life was spent in Middletown and Ivoryton, Connecticut. The family moved to Plymouth county, Iowa in 1917 and have resided near Akron ever since.

Irwin of Santa Monica, Calif.; Mrs. Eber Waterman of Kingsley, Iowa; and Mrs. Lester Lee of Milwaukee, Wis. She is also survived by two sisters in Sweden, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son Freddie, who died in January 24, and her husband who died in May 1945.

Nine years ago in January she suffered a severe paralytic stroke and has bee a helpless invalid ever since. She bore her long illness with great patience and fortitude sustained by her love for her church and family. Her son, Edwin, has tenderly and lovingly cared for her during the entire period.

Funeral services were held in Akron, Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the Lewison Funeral Home and at 2:30 o'clock at the English Lutheran church, conducted by the pastor Rev. David J. Roy. Pallbearers were Fred Claesson, John Frisk, Emil Johnson, Oscar Oakes, Harry Johnson and Arthur Brundeen. Interment was in Riverside cemetery.

Relatives from a distance in attendance at the funeral were: Ernest Nelson of Boston, Mass.; Mrs. John F. Davis of Mason City, Iowa; and Mr. and Mrs. Eber Waterman of Kingsley.
