Note: He is buried in Riverside Cemetery. His mother's maiden name was Jensen.

CHAMPAIGN – Clarence S. Erickson died at 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

He was born March 2, 1917, in Parker, S.D. He married Elaine M. Smikahl on Sept. 7, 1942, in Akron, Iowa.

Clarence was a major in the Army Air Forces during World War II.

From 1959 to 1982, he served as State Director of American Family Insurance in Indiana.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Shriners and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Champaign.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine; his son, Scott, of Champaign; his daughter, Pat, of Columbus, Ohio; and his four grandchildren, Ryan Himes, Jennifer Riley, Lauren Pero and Robert Erickson; as well as two great-granddaughters, Lexi and Matti.

There will be a visitation at Owens Funeral Home, 101 N. Elm St., Champaign, on Friday, April 16, from 5 to 7 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 2101 S. Prospect, Champaign, on Saturday, April 17, at 11 a.m.
