Julie Ellen Wess, 47, of LeMars died Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2002, at Cedar Rapids following a lengthy illness.

Services were held on Saturday, Aug. 24 at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church in LeMars. The Rev. James J. Tigges officiated. Burial was at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Remsen under the direction of Feuerstein Funeral Home, LeMars.

Julie was born Aug. 12, 1955, at LeMars, the daughter of Marvin and Helen (Shea) Wess. She was raised on a farm near Remsen. She moved with her parents to LeMars in 1979 where she had lived since.

Julie was a member of St. James Catholic Church. She enjoyed her family and loved to be around small children, especially babies. Her friends were very important to her.

Survivors include her mother, Helen Wess of LeMars; three brothers and three sisters, Roger Wess and his wife Mary Ann of Chadron, Neb., Janeen and her husband Steve Miller of Iowa City, DeAnn Berger of Chicago, Ill., Stephen Wess of Boise, Idaho, Laura and her husband, James Peters of Cedar Rapids, and James Wess and his wife Marian of Orange City; and numerous nieces and nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Marvin Wess and brother-in-law, Mark Berger.
