Jan. 23, 1919-June 20, 1990

REMSEN—Arnold Carl Fiedler, 71, died Wednesday, June 20, in a Sioux City hospital.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday June 25, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen with Rev. John J. McGuirk and Rev. Loyd Fiedler, his son, officiating. Burial is in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Sunday with a parish rosary at 3 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 8 p.m. at Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen.

Fiedler, son of John and Elizabeth (Mausen) Fiedler, was born June 23, 1919, at Oyens. He was raised and educated in the Oyens area. On Oct. 28, 1941, he married Kathryn Kilker in LeMars. The couple farmed near Oyens and in 1956 moved to Remsen where he was employed at Schaafs Hardware for 18 years. In 1974 he began employment with Moeller Furniture and retired in 1989. He was the sexton for the Remsen Community Cemetery for 14 years.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Ronald of Oyens, Rev. Loyd in the Philippines and Leon and Robert, both of Remsen; six daughters, LaVonne, (Mrs. Jim) Galles, Karen (Mrs. Craig) Bartolozzi and Kay (Mrs. Henry) Campbell, all of LeMars, Mary (Mrs. Patrick) Loutsch and Rose Ann Fiedler, both of Remsen, and Marlene Gallardo of Sioux City; 27 grandchildren; one great-grandson; a brother, Roman of Remsen and three sisters, Leona (Mrs. Joe) Hoffman of LeMars, Hildegard (Mrs. Vincent) Streff of Sheldon and Loretta (Mrs. Cletus) Hansen of Fort Dodge.
