MARCUS - Ronald L. Hinspeter, 77, of Marcus, died Friday, Sept. 26, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.
Ronald L. Hinspeter was born May 18, 1926, at Marcus, the son of Ed and Pearl (Schwartz) Hinspeter. He grew up in the Marcus area, and graduated from Marcus High School in 1944. He served in the U.S. Army between 1944 and 1946. He returned to the Marcus area where he farmed with his father.

On Aug. 14, 1948, he married Francella Swindle at Le Mars. He farmed west of Marcus until his death. While farming, he worked for Burns Security in Orange City and Sioux Center. His wife, Francella, died Feb. 20, 2001.

He was a 50-year member of Grace United Methodist church in Marcus.

Survivors include two sons, Francis Hinspeter and his wife, Jane, of Marcus, and Paul Hinspeter and his wife, Donna, of Le Mars; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Glen and Joyce Hakeman of Edinburg, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Francella; a granddaughter, Gina Hinspeter; a great-granddaughter, Amber Frederes; one brother, Lyle; and two sisters, Florence Lottman and Doris Wiedow.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Grace United Methodist church in Marcus with the Rev. Timm Wilkin officiating. Burial will be at Marcus-Amherst Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by F.I. Goodburn Post 517 of Marcus. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today (Monday), at the Earnest-Rohde Funeral Home in Marcus, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m.
