WELLINGTON, Nev. -- Donald F. Staab, 76, of Wellington, Nev., died Monday, Sept. 22, 2003, at Life Care Center in Reno, Nev.
Donald F. Staab was born April 14, 1927, at the Staab family farm near Remsen, the son of Louis P. Staab and Louise (Stoffel) Staab. He grew up in the Plymouth County area and attended Le Mars schools. He served in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1947, and was stationed in Germany.

On Feb. 11, 1953, he married Phyllis Anderson of Le Mars. The couple farmed near Remsen. In 1956, they moved to California and lived in Temple City and Baldwin Park. He owned and operated All-Over Lock and Safe Co. In 1990, he retired and they moved to Topaz Ranch Estates at Wellington, Nev.

On Feb. 8, 2003, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a party arranged by their children and grandchildren at the Fountain of Youth R.V. Resort at Niland, Calif., where they spent the winter months.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis; sons, Steven and Maria Staab of Ontario, Calif., Timothy and Dawn Staab of Chino Hills, Calif., daughters, Valerie and Bob Victorino of Alta Loma, Calif., and Laurel and Jerry Evangelista of Gardnerville, Nev.; grandchildren, David, James, Sarah and Michael Staab of Ontario, Calif., Julie Victorino Elder, Robert Victorino Jr., and Ashley Victorino of Alta Loma, Calif, Chloé and Annika Staab of Chino Hills, Calif.; two step-grandchildren, Luis and Gerry Evangelista of Gardnerville, Nev.; one great-granddaughter, Taylor Rose Elizabeth Elder of Alta Loma, Calif.; three sisters, Evelyn Bar and DeLores Autry of Dallas, Texas, and Mary Lou Moos of Granville; three brothers, Eugene of Greeley, Colo., Wendell of Remsen and James of Le Mars; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Edna Schleisman; a nephew, Dean Schleisman; and four brothers-in-law.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. today (Friday) at Rose Hills Memorial Park, Lakeview Chapel, in Whittier, Calif. Burial will follow in Medallion Lawn.

The family suggestions memorial donations to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
