Paul G. Nitzschke, 64, of Le Mars, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2003, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars.

Paul Gary Nitzschke was born March 28, 1939, at Remsen, the son of Paul and Vira Nitzschke. He attended Remsen-Union High School and moved to Le Mars.

Paul married Dorothy Higginbotham on June 10, 1961, at Kingsley. He worked at Le Mars Fruit and Grocery in Le Mars prior to his employment with Harker's Meats. Paul worked at Harker's for 29 years.

He married Marlys (Busack) Beach on Nov. 25, 1987, at Canton, S.D. The couple made their home in Le Mars. Paul was currently employed with Hy-Vee Grocery Store in Le Mars. He enjoyed working in the yard, traveling and visiting with people. Mostly he cherished spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife Marlys of Le Mars; a son, Brian and his wife, Tammy of Le Mars; a step-son Richard Beach and his wife, Aurora, of Las Vegas, Nev.; a daughter-in-law, Julie Nitzschke of Le Mars; nine grandchildren Jesse Nitzschke, Lisa, Mary and Taylor Riggs, Lani and James Beach, Susan Minor, Robert Beach and Lynn Lancaster; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lella Smith and her husband, Lowry, of Crested Butte, Colo., and Pearl Brown of Akron; a sister-in-law, Kay Reuer and her husband, Helmet, of Ft. Pierre, S.D.; two brothers-in-law, Rollin Busack and Gary Busack and his wife, Judy, both of Chamberlain, S.D.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Fern Klemme; and a brother Les Nitzschke.

A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home of Le Mars. The Rev. Robert L. Eggers, Jr. will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date. There will be no visitation prior to the service on Friday.
